3,000 Kbps is too low a bitrate to retain most of the quality. Using the H.264/AVC codec, a bitrate of at least 5,000 Kbps is necessary for 720p before quality loss starts to become minimal. Using VC-1 you'd need a bitrate of at least 8 Mbps. For 1080p video, 10+ Mbps for H.264/AVC is necessary and 15+ Mbps for VC-1.
I've also noticed that a lot of your older scenes aren't available even in 720p - yet looking at the standard definition versions reveals to me that their aspect ratio is 16:9. The Sammie & Lexi scene, for example; it's clearly widescreen. This indicates to me that they were probably filmed with a high definition camera - so I have to ask, where's the original recordings? Can you not go back and re-release these scenes in HD?
The last thing I'd like to address here is the lack of Blu-rays for sale. It's 2011, guys. The format's been out for five years now. DVDs are dead. Any porn I purchase on physical media I will only purchase if it's available on Blu-ray. I would absolutely buy a Blu-ray release from you guys, but $25 for a DVD in 2011? I have to pass.

Most of our customers seem to not be nearly as concerned about these issues, so we base these things on what most customers seem to want, many customers communicate that they don't want the larger downloads.

Most watch porn on their computer screen which is a foot from their face, so it's always seemed a bit overkill to fill the screen with HD, many opinions on this point.

As for older scenes, many of the older scenes were not shot originally in HD/HDV, it's possible to shoot SD as 16x9

As for BluRay, generally speaking adult bluray sales are terrible, and it's still cost prohibitive to press bluray, mainly because of the fees that must be paid to Sony. I agree DVDs are fading, so it seems silly to invest in Bluray.

We are always trying to step up our quality, and it's improved numerous times in our history. Everyone has various opinions, 3000-4000 bit rate at 1280x720 looks really good on my screen.

Thanks for addressing that the older scenes were shot with 16:9 SD cameras rather than true HD ones. That solves that mystery.

I watch the videos on my 1080p HDTV. Needless to say, it does not look very pretty. Perhaps I have just been spoiled by larger more mainstream sites like Brazzers who offer 1080p with 12 Mbps bitrate downloads of their videos. They're not flawless but they do look pretty damn good. I don't understand why you'd want to watch any video content hunched over in a computer chair looking at a tiny monitor instead of relaxing in a recliner in front of a nice big HDTV.

I think it could work if you offered the 1080p download link alongside the 3 mbit 720p one so the consumer can choose what's right for their connection.

As for the idea of offering Blu-rays, I obviously don't expect you guys to be able to go the route of the big adult companies and have them professionally pressed in factories. I was thinking you might be interested in trying a route similar to what you seem to be doing with your DVD-Rs; burn them using blank BD-R discs.

But yeah, I'm not the only one who feels that the video quality is the biggest problem with this website. Everyone seems to universally love the content of the site but the low quality of the videos definitely hurts the overall opinion.

Just a few more thoughts. I'm certainly not anti HD, although I've always felt that it was a bad format for adult. I worked as an HD tech for various adult companies so I'm quite familar with the technology. I use to watch companies shoot in uncompressed HD and then they would quickly throw a pro mist filter in front of the lens because HD can be very unflattering even for the best looking girls. And I can can say that most all girls in our biz hate HD for that reason. HD is at it's best for nature and sports. I have seen HD hardcore closeups that were down right scary, lol.

You mentioned watching on your big TV, personally when watching adult for my personal satisfaction, I'm perfectly happy to watch on my 20 inch HD computer monitor. I think most internet porn is watched that way, many guys simply are not in position to put it up on the big TV in the family room because of wives and kids. The huge success of porn on mobile phones shows that many are happy to see it on smaller screens and don't require it be 1080p on their widescreen. Porn, computer screens and phones are the perfect storm because it allows people to see adult quickly and easily without being noticed by others.

As for the review, it's pretty old and doesn't mention the 1280X720 that we offer now. The latest rabbit review actually said our video quality was very good.

Truth is, no matter what our quality, some will like and some will not, and some won't care either way. Even you said the brazzers 1080p wasn't flawless, so like most things, there's no satisfying everyone.

We could try experimenting with some H264 scenes, but we always have to consider bandwidth, storage, and etc. Maybe will will offer both WMV and H264 for an upcoming scene and see which gets downloaded the most.

I think 1280X720 is good enough for KissMe girl scenes. The latest scene quality was awesome. I hope you continue to post scenes in this high quality format.
